My Nappy Roots

Journey Through Black Hair-itage:  Award-winning film is the definitive story of Black hair. 

My Nappy Roots is was a 2005 American film directed by Regin Kimbell.  It explores the evolution of black hair styles before American slavery and addresses the struggle of how African American people search for a social control, identity and economic independence.

Virgin Moon Entertainment, an independent production company has put on My Nappy Roots tour set to begin February 16, 2011 across the United States.  It will tell its story through the voices people who were and are instrumental in the changes that have influenced the cultural images, aesthetics and behavior of Black Americans. Vivica A. Fox, Patti LaBelle, Ella Joyce and Malcolm-Jamal Warner  and more.  Historians, authors, journalists, comedians, stylists, barbers and others provide historical, professional and personal accounts on their Black hair journey.
